Yay! It’s my second post in “People I Love’ and I am super excited to introduce you to my best foodie friend, Naomi Nachman, aka “The Aussie Gourmet”! She is a personal chef, recipe developer, food writer, cooking instructor, and radio host. We met each other at Kosherfest two years ago and have been best friends since.
As I mentioned, we met at the CKCA Cooking Competition at Kosherfest. Naomi was one of judges. At the competition we instantly became friends. More than a year ago later we are still and now we are even family friends. You never know where the Bernaths and the Nachman’s will be eating next. We recently went to a hibachi restaurant called Kasi. We all sat around one big table and had our food made in front of us. It was so much fun!
Aside from being a personal chef, Naomi is also a radio host on The Nachum Segal Network. She has a food show called “Table for Two”. I have been on her show three times now. At Gourmet Glatt, her studio, and the Kosher Bloggers Conference. I had so much fun all of the times I was on. If you haven’t ever listened to her show you definitely should! You can click here to see some of her past shows.
Meet Naomi Nachman!
Eitan: Who are you, what do you do and where do you live?
Naomi: My name is Naomi Nachman. I do everything food! I am a personal chef, recipe developer, recipe developer, food writer, cooking instructor, and radio host. I live in Woodmere, Long Island.
Eitan: What’s your favorite part of your job?
Naomi: Definitely my radio show because I get to meet so many amazing people, like you, who love food as much as I do!
Eitan: If you could only have one form of social media for the rest of your life… what would it be?
Eitan: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever made in the kitchen?
Naomi: On time my mother and I made a Turducken. It was really amazing! We were so proud of it.
Eitan: What is the craziest food you have ever eaten?
Naomi: One time I eat the organ meat of a cow in paris. I had the kidney and heart. It was actually amazing!
Eitan: What was your favorite food when you were a child?
Naomi: As a kid I loved lamb and sausages. There are more sheep than people in Australia.
Eitan: What is the one food you would never give up?
Naomi: Milk. I love a rich, cold glass of milk. I can drink it all day long!
Eitan: Worst kitchen disaster?
Naomi: I was making a potato kugel in a pyrex dish. I was preheating the pan with some oil in the oven to getting hot so that the potato kugel would sizzle when I put in it. When it was ready I took it out and put it on counter. It immediately exploded because the counter was cold. It made a mess but thank god no one got hurt!
Eitan: Haute Cuisine or Comfort Food?
Naomi: I can’t decide. I like everything food! I like meatballs and spaghetti as much as I love seared duck breast.
Eitan: What is your favorite meal of the day?
Naomi: I actually never eat breakfast. All I need in the morning is a cup of coffee with some milk. But I can’t decide between lunch and dinner. I love them both!
Eitan: What is one kitchen tool you can’t live without?
Naomi: A very very very very sharp knife.
Eitan: Which part of blogging excites you most: the recipe development, the post writing, or the photography?
Naomi: Definitely the recipe development. I love getting the creative juices flowing!
Eitan: Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?
Eitan: If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you bring?
Naomi: 1. A sharp knife
2. A blanket
3. A big metal bowl
